I am a Baby-Boomer who now qualifies for senior citizen discounts! So, the business experience and wisdom I am about to share with you should be much more credible.

When I graduated from high school in the mid 60"s, didn"t have a clue on what I wanted to do with my life. Obviously, maturity was not in my vocabulary yet!

Most of you have heard the old adage... "Get a Good Education, a Good Job and the Good Life will be yours." My main objective in attending college at the time was not to get a "Good Education", but simply to try to avoid the WAR in Viet Nam, with a college deferment!

In 1970, figured out that it was time to get that "Good Education"! After quitting a few years earlier, I returned to college, graduated with degrees in Business Administration and Law Enforcement, plus maintained a 3.0 GPA, while working full-time. Not bad for a good ole boy from Texas!

My goal was to become an FBI agent. At the time, the Bureau was mainly hiring lawyers and CPA"s with an emphasis on women, minority and bi-lingual candidates. Yours truly did not fit into any of those categories.

In the meantime, a friend persuaded me to go to work in sales for the time being. You guessed it… I have been there ever since!

Selling what you may ask? Office supplies and equipment, medical / surgical products and medical diagnostic equipment, all in the corporate environment.

Also worked as a business manager in the funeral industry, as well as marketing manager for a skilled care nursing facility. Now that could be construed as a conflict of interest!

And I was very good at all of the above… Sales Awards, Trips, The Whole Works!

Got a Good Education, had Good Jobs, but where is the ""Good Life"?

What I discovered… The “Good Life” is actually being in business for yourself! Surrounding yourself with like minded people and helping them enjoy the “Good Life”. Teaching them how to spread the “Good Life” to as many people as possible! In other words, having TIME to enjoy the “Good Life”!

For most people, being in business for yourself means owning a franchise or buying a conventional business. But, most of us don’t have the funds needed to start from scratch! Most good franchises require at least $100,000 in start up capital. So what does the average person do?

We are told to…make THE LIST! Then contact all those friends, relatives and acquaintances… you know, your Warm Market. By the time you finish that task, you become a member of the NFL… No Friends Left!!

Buy books, tapes and attend all functions, seminars and national sales meetings.

While you are out and about, always utilize the 3-FOOT RULE. That is…Talk to Anyone you come in contact with at the grocery store, mall, post office, etc. about your opportunity. Nowadays, you could get arrested for that approach!

Be on the weekly conference calls with as many “prospects” as you can muster.

Give out dozens of CD’s and DVD’s. (Be sure to follow up on those.)

Buy expensive leads, spending late evenings and week-ends dialing for those dollars.

3-way calls with your upline sponsor… And on and on and on!
It’s no wonder that most new people in your organization QUIT so quickly!
